2020 was an odd one for sure, I only had 2 full weddings (if you can call 50 people, 6 people per table and no dancing a full wedding) and this was my second. It's funny, sometimes I get so robotic when shooting or editing that I am so hard on myself. But looking back to post Arp and Katie's day, honestly I killed it, they killed it, it was absolute perfection and exactly where I want my photography to go.Â
This day from the hop was a little on and off to say the least, I'm going to let you know all the little things that went on that really made this day so spectacular. It rained, boy did it rain, Katie really want to have a wedding outside and she watched her dream wash away while having her amazing makeup done. Her dress popped the eye loop while getting dressed, never fear though momma to the recuse and it was fixed in no time. Katie had to have had the most excited group of ladies I've encountered too, so supportive of her, their reactions to seeing Katie as a bride, and all the pre photo ops- I as a photographer couldn't ask for more!Â
With 5 min to spare before the ceremony the decision was made to wipe the chairs down outside and just go for it!Â
And just as Katie had the best ladies Arp had the best groomsmen, caught primping and touching up stellar mustachios, hair and suit check. Katie's dad was such a character, I have never seen a dad so proud and full of smiles walking his little girl down the aisle. As a surprise all the men in the wedding had matching chicken leg socks to surprise Katie who loves chickens, honestly the funniest thing I've seen in awhile- Such a hit!
Being in the middle of Fall, the colours were amazing for bridal portraits, . I really put lots of thought into these photos, tons of movement, play with the dress, swish, stand in the light, blowing hair, stealing sun beams and my FAVOURITE dancing photos- little did I know Katie was a dancer. OH EMM GEEE once a dancer, always a dancer, her pointed toes, angelic hands... I can't even. Not to mention Katie's laugh is non-stop, gorgeous smile that when she smiles or laugh you can't help but to do so as well. Oh and he way Arp looks at Katie SWOON. While the video team did their thang I normally don't engage too much, but my GAWD, catching Arp gently brushing Katies hair back, the hills over looking the gold course- I mean Come on! And then the bridge, with the perfect reflection in the water. These are the type of photos I want. All the in-betweens, un-scripted, not posey, just never stop shooting.
Enter the Reception, well, even with 50 people it was full of belly laughs, mainly from Katies dad, who I won't call out too much, was the star of the night (hence all the amazing laughs you'll see) From The chicken dance more then once, to the shoe game and dice game- which, made for some very interesting "copy me kisses", this wedding was exactly what I needed for my soul and photography.Â
So here are the moments that made the day, unconventional, totally unique and the perfect day as far I am concerned!Â
