Duane + Sarah Carnival Theme wedding

I have been patiently awaiting to blog this wedding. This is going to be long winded, but trust me it's worth every word.

I met These two after reading on a Bride group that they were taken by another photographer and the amount kept increasing with many hidden costs (ARG!!) I jumped on this, not only because I felt horrible for them but because they were getting married in my little home town of Bailieboro- and this was on my bucket list of places to shoot of course. When I met Duane and Sarah they were the sweetest couple. They told me little about them- they have known each other since childhood at the trailer, they had separate lives but somehow made their way back to each other. He pursed hard and Sarah kept saying no, finally she accepted a date and soon a ring! they have 10 kids all together... yes 10!!! A couple sets of twins, adopting a niece and well, 10 kids aging 19- 1year... And you know, they have more sanity then I do with my 2 kids.

They love having fun so they used that idea and created a Carnival Theme wedding. There was no detail left out, from the tears of joy hankies, custom label water bottles, amazing kids table, cut outs for picture taking, and table toppers "I love you more then the Carousel" (different on for each table) She had it covered.

The day started out with all the girls getting ready and like I said for so much chaos Sarah was calm cool and collected. One of my favourite moments is seeing the dress, you often wonder what it says about them and if your vision is their vision. Sarah's dress was her %110. She looked like a southern goddess in it. It was such a pleasure watching the girls see their momma getting ready and the smiles coming from them all was heart warming.

Duane met his beautiful bride at the end of her aisle wearing, jeans, a vest and cowboy hat, accessorized with the biggest smile and welled up eyes. His dream and hard work had paid off!!  A small quaint ceremony, where guests had custom fans on the hot August afternoon to cool with, sitting hay bails. The emotions from the kids and family after the ceremony and for the rest of the day was overwhelming. So many tears of happiness, the feeling of being a complete and whole family was just too much to handle. I swear I could share every photo from this wedding and you would be in tears right along with them.

We went into the picturesque town of Millbrook, Ont- again a bucket list for me. They have a quaint downtown and a nice creek and old mill in the middle of town. Sarah and Duane's first wedding location was originally under a willow tree, but the property was sold and they no longer could wed there. So I made sure we found the biggest Willow tree I could and took some stunning photos there. The way these two look at each other screams love, always a smile, a laugh or sparkle in their eyes.

Upon entering the reception they had their love story spoken, there was't a dry eye in house. It was so special to them as their life journey has been one for the books! they danced to their favourite song "Angle Eyes" and sang it to each other as if nobody else was there.  Dinner was served by the amazing Vintage Pizza Company based out of Port Hope, Ont., stone baked pizzas to die for!

Sarah prepared a song to sing to her kids, It was so special and again the tears were flowing, as it brought the whole family dynamic together. She also danced the "This one's for the girls" by Martina Mc Bride with all her girls and even ones she babysat over the years, such a fun time.  Late night dessert was brought to us by my FAVOURITE ice-cream treat place, HollyWood Cone. If you haven't tried these guys you must, especially since they just opened one in Toronto and Whitby Ont. Also their cake was customs made to tell their love story from start to end, you MUST see this cake!

From beginning to end this wedding was super charged with emotion, love, detail and perfection. I'm so glad we also did video for this wedding so you can jump right in with them and be right where we were heart and soul.

Congrats Duane and Sarah, I was so honoured to capture your day for you, and thank you for helping me cross off a few of my bucket list. For more photos go here and to see the video, click here

Joesph + Ashley Old Flame Brewery wedding

These two cool cats are possibly the most laid back young couple I have ever met. From the booking of the wedding day to the engagement photos and the wedding day, I never felt a drop of stress from these two.

As some may know I had a freak accident on Sept 20th 2016, and broke both my left wrist and left ankle. I knew I could still shoot a wedding with an assistant of course, but how do you break that to a couple?!  Although I'm sure they had doubts and worried they never showed it once when they found out- I likely was the least of their worries.  Turns out these love birds have been living apart for many months while Ashely was in training and Joe was building his business. They both literally flew in the night before their wedding and flew out a day after! Ashely got ready at the Piano Cafe in Port Perry with her mom and sister, they all laughed cracked jokes and got ready very laid back. Down the road Joe was waiting at the Old Flame Brewery in Port Perry, Ont- where they would wed and have finger foods with 50 of their closest family and friends.

They choose to do a reveal and all of their photos before the ceremony, I just love reveals! Now, I've shot in Old Flame before, but this place never gets boring and Joe and Ashley are far from boring as well. It was terribly rainy and chilly outside so outdoor photos were not an option. The ceremony was sweet, many laughs and you just knew these two were totally meant to be. They had a live band for the music which was totally awesome!

I could babble on about this wedding, but you can see it for yourself. These photos perfectly capture anything I can't put into words.

Congratulations you two, It was a perfect day that expressed exactly who you both are. I know you will have many, MANY, years of laughs and love and your love will conquer all (even the distance you have o deal with right now!)

Chris and Tarrah Sept 2016- All "fore" love

Ahhhh... these two. I've known Tarrah for a few years, capturing her and her 3 girls who have grown into ladies right before my eyes. Tarrah and her girls are full of charm, spunk, attitude and love for one another, they are always a fun session! So when Tarrah found her other half of course I was going to be the one to capture that love.

Chris and Tarrah met at Carruthers Creek Golf Club, she worked there and he golfed there. They met on the 6th hole one day and their love grew from there.  Chris seems like a quiet guy when you meet him but, I quickly learned he's just as cooky as Tarrah- she indeed found her match!

The wedding took place with closest of family and friends at Bowmanville City hall, her girls and his sons and daughter made up the bridal party.  It was a beautiful day that gave a bit of rain in the morning but cleared by the afternoon. The ceremony was quaint but no shortage of smiles, laughs and love. The way their eyes locked when she was walking toward him and the way they were just so ready to start this new chapter together. To unite the two families the had a sand ceremony, layering a colour per person, and it really turned out quite nice.  Tarrah's mom could't make it but with the amazing technology we have now mom was there via FaceTime for the ceremony and signing.

Pictures were a blast and of course how could they not be? The girls all had matching navy dresses and everyone had Converse shoes on! Using city hall and downtown Bowmanville as some of the backdrop we captured some pretty cool pictures. Then we went to Carruthers Creek Golf course to do some more photos, why not come back full circle to the place they met at and brought them to where they were today?! Carruthers Creek Offers so many picturesque spots on their property, we had done the engagement photos out on the course- a first for the course, and came back to use the front property which is set up for the perfect wedding photos. I can't boast enough about this place.

From the kids making faces in the photos, to the full out laughs from everyone (ok they may have also been laughing "with" me as I was 3 weeks in with a broken wrist AND ankle), these photos are exactly Chris and Tarrah. I am so honoured to have been the one to capture their day, their love and just simply... THEM. Congrats you two love birds on your hole in one! xo

Luke + Lindsay Parkwood Estate Wedding

I don't even know where to begin with these two. I have NEVER felt so much love between two people, I mean they laugh contagiously and look damn good while doing it. Luke and Lindsay are the couple you are envious of, heck I'm totally envious how flawless they make photos look.

As Lindsay sat and had her makeup done, you could tell she was a little nervous, but she had an army of best girlfriends behind her and the most attentive Maid of Honour I have ever encountered. She got ready in a bedroom with just her mom, a few moments that were so sweet and full or laughs but also realization, THIS IS THE DAY. Her army hadn't seen her in her dress ever so naturally we did a bug reveal, and as they all came through that bedroom door the oohs and ahhs and tears was magic, she was the perfect bride. After a huge hug circle it was dad's turn, this is where I choke up every time. The look on his face it likely the same look he had the day she was born, the tears in his eyes and a hugest grin.

While the girls did their "Bridesmaids" pose, the guys were chilling by the home bar, outdoor pool and playing in the band. Not to forget the photos with dad's old car they had to push out of the garage to do photos of.. Don't ask, apparently it's a long story.

They wed in the enchanting sunken garden at Parkwood Estates in Oshawa. Before the ceremony I said to Luke "wait until you see her, she's stunning, how did you get so lucky?" His response was the best I have ever heard and EVERY man should say " I don't know, I swung big and hit a home run, I don't know how!" Heart Melt. Now most guys have some sort of reaction when they see their soon to be wife for the first time, Luke's was classic movie on point. He took the biggest breath I've ever seen and tears started to well up. As he took the hand of his bride and lead her up the stairs he couldn't take his eyes off her all the while Lindsay bawling and laughing, he fully wipes his water works and awe of her beauty. Can't say I didn't warn him. They had a friend officiate most of the ceremony (with the legal officiant standing by for the legs stuff), he came out with lines like "groom groom with the boom boom" and "wifey for lifey", we were in stitches. Defiantly one I'll remember forever!

While walking the grounds and doing bridal party photos Luke decided to see if any Pokemon were around the grounds on the Pokeman Go app.. This made everyone laugh, except for his new wife! (The picture says it all) On to the reception. Speeches are usually boring, you get the odd funny one, highly embarrassing but mostly YAWN.. Lindsay and Luke's speeches from parents and friends were Funny, embarrassing and had them in tears laughing.

Here's the thing, I can literally go ON AND ON about this wedding, the laughter, the love, the stunning photos but I'll just stop right here and let you see for yourself. I know I'm like a terrible romance novel and won't give all the juicy details and keep you hanging.. To see more go here

Congrats Luke and Lindsay, You have a love so pure and so fun, don't ever loose that spark!

Graeme And Rachel July 2016- Whimsical Backyard Wedding

Graeme and Rachel offered a wedding to me like no other. They moved into an older house with so much character and beautiful property weeks before the wedding. They set up a huge party tent and beautiful arbour in the yard and this is where they wed.

I loved this house, the colors, the plaster walls, It screamed character and commanded moody photos. There was no taboo of seeing each other getting ready, although getting Graeme getting ready was a challenge. You see he's a gamer, so when the parents are running around setting up wedding favours and Rachel setting up tables- Graeme was bringing the tv and game consoles outside for the late night video game playing!

Rachel is such a reserved girl, I suspect until you get to know her, so when we pulled out this big, huge, wedding dress, I was shocked. It was the most romantic feeling dress, and was exactly her. Her dad gave her a set of pearls on her wedding day and mom made the garter, there were so many special touches throughout this whole day, including the fur babies that loved all the attention with so many people around.

The ceremony was sweet, filled with a few tears and laughter. You can truly feel it when they can't take their eyes off each other, you swore nobody else was there.

They live beside a sod farm, so it was the perfect spot for photos, and with that big romantic dress the pictures remind me of the movie "Run away Bride" with Julia Roberts.  This wedding also allowed me to pull off some shots that you don't normally get do, with the direction of the sun, the dress and the relaxed feeling of the whole day.

For dinner they had a BBQ truck come in with ribs, corn bread, corn on the cob, and the best potato salad EVER. They didn't have a first dance. Why? Cause, it didn't matter. They wanted to enjoy the evening, they were exhausted, so they did what they wanted to do, and I love them for that! Weddings are crazy, stressful, tiring, and always aiming for perfection. Sometimes we forget that the reason for the day is to marry your true love, make promises and enjoy life.

They had hanging lanterns all around the property and had a firework, followed by a sparkler send off- which again was a new venture for me. I could't love these photos, this day and these two any more. Congrats Graeme and Rachel, You did it, and you did it your way!

Jeff +Tina July 2016

These two got it.. You know that love that doesn't have to have PDA to know they are in love, the love that is so prevalent when you get them alone it oozes from them. Jeff and Tina. They have been together for 12 years, two kids later and I'm sure many ups and downs, but yet they still act like newly weds and their eyes tell their love story.

I was super excited to shoot this wedding, because Tina is a rockstar in my camera, her bridal portraits before hand are hands down the best I've EVER done! I swoon.  They wed in the most interesting location, a little Slovakian hall in the middle of nowhere with a campy charm. A photographers dream. Although we were threatened with rain a few times and the sky opened up, it held off long enough for the ceremony and photos. Their daughter was the prettiest little flower girl and little guy, just over a year, stole the show in my eyes.

Now Jeff and Tina are not the centre off attention type, so I took so many candid moments from them during photos, the truth is they sparkled while together and looking at each other, you can't force that kind of magic! I've got a secret.. her dress, that fit perfectly and completely classic.. $99!!!! I was floored! Wedding dresses don't have to be hundreds or thousands for them to be perfect.

Now lets talk backdrop.. Hellloooo... Giant LOVE marquee letters. Yes please! I had so much fun making creative photos using that in the background. They did a father daughter dance with the bride and dad and groom and their daughter, I'm surprised I could focus though welling up, it was so sweet <3

Oh and the wedding favours? Trees, mini seedlings, as this is something the do as a family often, plant trees.  When it came to cutting the cake, there was no knife, so Tina says " I'm just gonna bite it", of course I was totally on board and said "go for it!" AND SHE DID!! Followed by their daughter, it was a first for me and honestly the best! It was a perfect wedding, why? Because it was simply them, cool, easy and fun.

Keep on loving each other you two, you've figured out the secret to long love, lasting love, easy, fun love!

Here's to MANY more years, when you've got each other, I can clearly see you've got the world xoxo

David + Leanne Trillium Trails wedding

David and Leanne were married at the beautiful Trillium Trails in Raglan Ont. Their love story is the same as everyone else's.. Boy moves into basement apartment, owners have beautiful daughter, he tries to date her, she says no, he persists... and here we are! Or so the speeches said lol

It was a perfectly planned day, so many details that are flawlessly orchestrated by Leanne. She went with a peacock theme using purple and turquoise and of course peacock feathers in her bouquet. She planned for Davids dream car, a 1978 Chevelle to pick him up and take him to the wedding, he was blown away! He had a little surprise for her as well, she loves scrap books so he started one of their life journey so far and let that in her bridal suite.

Her dress was perfect and she reminded me of a statue, so elegant. I beautiful ceremony and stunning dramatic bridal portraits really made this day, not to mention the way her dress fluffed in sync with their coordinated first dance.

These two obviously were meant to be together according to the speeches we heard, these two listened to the signs and know they were meant forever! Check out more photos here..

Congrats Leanne and David!!

Jason + Kristina Old Flame Brewery wedding

Kristina and Jason are a love story of new age. They didn’t meet at school, or through friends or some other “regular” avenue. They met off of E-Harmony. In a time where internet dating in now the “norm”, these two found their exact match. Both having a love for craft beers and music concerts they quickly hit it off.

3 years later Jason finally popped the question at the exact same restaurant, in the exact same booth where they first met! Wedding planning quickly started thereafter. Kristina had many connections and a huge attention to detail.

Of course their fist thought was to marry or have their reception In one of Toronto’s many breweries, and after checking some out they fell in love with Old Flame Brewery. Old Flame Brewery is housed in the former Ontario Carriage Works. Built in 1884, this landmark is 130 years old and was revived back to the old building to mirror its grand former self. Stunning old beams, beautiful brick, gave this brewery the cosy rustic feeling Kristina and Jason wanted. As all the details pulled together perfectly all that was left was for the weather to hold out.

Their wedding day was not a typical fall day, it was very windy and periods of rain. Still they decided to push through and go ahead with exchanging their vows in Palmer Park under the Gazebo. As the harpist Liane James, played her heavenly music, Kristina seemed to float down the aisle. Her smile was contagious and the first look from Jason I know his heart skipped a beat..or two. Michelle Scrimgeour-Brown, from Transcendent Ceremonies, was the officiant. Michelle has a way to help couples really put a ceremony together that represents them. She loves the outside the box touches that resonate with a couple. Talking with Kristnia and Jason she learned of their love for craft beer, and together came up with a special unity of beers to mark their marriage.

After the ceremony due to the weather it was decided to take bridal party photos inside the Brewery. Being the photographer and expecting to be outside, I really had to think on my feet. Kristina and Jason put their trust in me 100% and much like me, LOVED the way the photos turned out.

The reception was fairly low key, a super funny entrance by the bride and groom, the most magical first dance I’ve ever witnessed and a champagne toast with all the guests. Finger foods were served by Marwan’s Global Bistro, Port Perry vs. a traditional sit down dinner. It was exactly their style, drink and mingle with the closets of family and friends. Their late night treat was Hollywood Cone, Oshawa, a truck pulled up outside the brewery and you could have anything from the menu!
The party was amazing, Durham Wedding DJ’s played music that kept even grandma dancing all night long.

Kristina and Jason’s wedding was by far one of the most relaxed and fun weddings I had the privilege to capture this year! I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we all do. Also check out the video to put you right in the day!
